Bardmoor Aquatic Team (BAT)
Bardmoor offers a great program of competitive swimming for 4 to 18 year olds. Swimmers compete against youngsters from other area clubs. Get into the swim of things this summer! Join the Bardmoor Aquatic Team (BAT) where there's a program for every swimmer with ribbons and trophies for all!

Coaches
Tom Haight
Our Head Coach for the Bardmoor Aquatic Team is TOM HAIGHT. Tom returns for his fourteenth summer with BAT. Coach Haight has taught and coached at Seminole High School for over 20 years. Coach Haight works primarily with the older swimmers (11 and older).

Karen Mandemaker
KAREN MANDEMAKER is the 10 & under Age Group Coach . Karen also swam for Tom at Seminole High School, graduating in 2001. She was a state meet qualifier her senior year, a Bardmoor lifeguard and lessons instructor and a member of BAT during her middle and high school years. Karen also works with the younger swimmers and has coached at Bardmoor for 5 years.

Ally Smith
Ally will return as an assistant coach this summer.  She's a 2006 graduate of Seminole HS and a state meet scorer in the 100 yd breaststroke during her senior year.  She's finishing her junior year at Florida Atlantic University and swam for the Owls last fall.  Ally's BAT roots are deep having started with us when she was 9 yrs. Old.  She's also had coaching experience with the WFLA-SW Complex novice group a few summers ago.

2009 TEAM PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Practices will be everyday (except Sunday), either morning or afternoon. Swimmers should bring caps, towels, goggles, water bottle, running shoes, etc. to practice. Swimmers should NOT wear their team suit to practice.

Summer Practice (June 8 – July ?) 

Monday thru Friday:

7:00 – 8:30 a.m. 13-14's, 15-18's Coach Tom

8:30 – 10:00 a.m. 11-12's, 13-14's Coach Tom

8:30 – 10:00 a.m. 6&U's, 8&U's, 10&U's Coach Karen & Coach Ally

4:00 – 6:00 p.m. 11-12's, 13-14's, 15-18's Coach Tom

4:00 – 5:30 p.m. 6&U's, 8&U's, 10&U's Coach Karen & Coach Ally

Saturday:

7:00 – 9:00 a.m. 11-12's, 13-14's, 15-18's Coach Tom

8:30 – 10:00 a.m. 6&U's, 8&U's, 10&U's Coach Karen & Coach Ally

Stroke & Turn clinics are held periodically on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. for swimmers to focus on a particular stroke or turn. These clinics last 1 hour with a $5 fee per swimmer.

Swimmer Spotlight

B.A.T. SWIMMERS HIGHLIGHTED

Clayton Austin, 6 years old, attends Bauder Elementary School is Coach Ally's spotlight. Clayton's 3 words that describe Coach Ally are: beautiful, funny and tall. Clayton has been swimming for 2 years and joined B.A.T. because his sister was swimming and his mom said he needed exercise too. His favorite stroke is butterfly and least favorite is breast. Clayton prefers to swim the distance events. His greatest achievement in swimming is getting ribbons. His favorite swimming idol is Michael Phelps. Clayton spends his time not in the pool by enjoying baseball.

Cameron Duff, 8 years old, attends Rawlings Elementary is Coach Karen's spotlight. Some words that describe Coach Karen are: good swimmer, good teacher and nice. Cameron has been swimming for 2 years and joined B.A.T. because he saw his friend Ava swimming and thought it was neat. His favorite stroke is freestyle and least favorite is breast stroke. His most embarrassing moment in swimming was when he got caught dancing on the block during a relay. His greatest achievement was taking 19 seconds off his butterfly. He enjoys skateboarding in his spare time.

Breanne Zsiga, 13 years old, attends Seminole Middle School is Coach Tom's spotlight. Breanne describes Coach Tom as hard-working, entertaining, and nice. She has been swimming for 4 years and joined B.A.T. because her mom saw some information on the team and decided she should try it. Breanne's favorite event is anything but butterfly. She prefers to swim sprint races. Her greatest achievement was making finals in all her events at PCL's. Her most embarrassing moment was missing a race because she was swinging on a bathroom stall door. Breanne's swimming idol is Dara Torres. In her spare time, she plays the piano and flute.
